Welcome to Nicaragua
2 years and 1 month on and I’m now on my 40th country. Not on this trip, you would think after 2 years I would have spanned half the globe by now but it seems I like to take my time. Who wants to be rushing around for 2 years, I’m doing this to relax, take it slow and enjoy myself.
I guess I should write a quick update about the last couple of months travel since I ‘ve been a bit slack on the blogging front. Roland, Hugo and I were forced to give up our lovely house in San Cristobal in June. It wasn’t so lovely when we left on the Sunday morning, we left a bit of a mess….
My 6 month visa was up anyway so after a week on the beach in Mazunte with Roland, Irene, Nora, Tom and Leire I reluctantly headed back to Guatemala for a couple of weeks. I went back to Xela for a night and then back to the Lake for a week or so. My basic plan was the same, to keep heading south and see where the road leads me. The Lake was the usual fun, very green since my last visit in March but I’d had enough time there already….

Jailbroke my iPod touch 3rd Gen….
Finally there was a release that included my third gen Touch and I have spent the last 2 days messing around with it more than ever.
Jailbreaking means that not only I could install cracked applications from the net if I so chose but opens it up to all manner of customisation and coolness. I was downloading apps like crazy from the app store and they were spread out over 8 pages. Finding something was a real pain, but now I have them all in folder on one page. I have a background that rotates through my photos and I can see a % on my battery and how much memory I’m using… you know, cool nerdy stuff 
I’ve been using it to read ebooks a lot, watch movies (I did all 60 hours of ‘The Wire’ on it) as well as the occasional music session (I picked up a 60Gb iPod on ebay when I was in the UK, so the majority of my music is on that) and I’m finding some of the games just awesome too. For only 59p the 2 Geodefense games and Flight Control have given me more than 20 hours of fun I reckon, and for less than 2 quid!
I’m now waiting for 2 more things and then I will be content. An app that will play DIVX/XVID movies at full speed (I don’t care about the hit on the battery life, I will only use it occasionally) and a method of connecting my external bluetooth GPS to it. Looks like http://www.roqy-bluetooth.net/roqyGPS.html might be the answer but I want it to see my GPS device before I pay $8 for the license.
Tip for charging your iPod on your computer while listening to it…
Look inside the USB iPod lead.
The outer 2 connectors are longer than the middle 2. So if you slowly push the USB lead not all the way in until those 2 hit the power rail your iPod will charge and your computer won’t even know its there.
