Q: Who are you? What is this site for?
A: My name is Mark Towner, I’m a travel addict. This started off as a place to dump all my photographs I’ve been taking over the years in case of a disaster with my PC and now is a nice place to write my thoughts and show my friends and family what I’m up to.
Q: What’s with the Google map at the top of your page? What is the yellow line?
A: Its a way of showing where I have been on my travels, I have a GPS data logger which records my movements every few seconds which I can upload through Google maps. It also allows me to add the geographical information to the photographs I take, commonly known as geotagging. It is not real-time but should give you some idea of my trip.
Q: Isn’t that a bit nerdy? Who cares?
A: Its the future. GPS will be very common in new cameras soon and maps to pin point where you were and when will be all over the place. Wouldn’t you like a better record of a trip of a lifetime? I will be writing a post on the specifics soon.
Q: I just read your Plan… how can you afford this? Did you win the lottery?
A: No, I have been saving for a while and selling stuff on e-bay. Hopefully I can generate some traffic to my site with witty and topical posts which could cover my costs. I also intend to sell photography prints on the site which might help.
Q: Can anyone do what you’re doing?
A: Sure, save all you can, sell everything you can live without on ebay, rent your house, sell your car and get out and enjoy yourself before you wind up miserable, lonely and dead. Everyday could be your last… maybe its tomorrow.

A: Why don’t you? ;p
Q: Who hosts your site?
A: Dreamhost, they’re pretty user friendly for the novice, lots of disk space and bandwidth. I’m looking forward to getting enough traffic to have a dedicated host.
