Day 137 San Diego, Ca
Joan had a voucher for $30 for a Indian Buffet place which she hadn’t cashed in 3 years and we decided it was time to use it or lose it. It was miles away though but this was America and driving for 20 minutes for food was a normal thing to do :p I just didn’t have an appetite though, I must have been ill or something but after some soup and nan I was nearly full! It was up to the girls to get their moneys worth since I was such a lightweight. Why did I eat breakfast!?! Joan took us on a round about tour of the beaches but she had to work and abandoned Sheena and I to our own devices for the afternoon. We had a CS pot luck party to attend too and after throwing a few ideas for food around decided the best option was to buy a big pie and ice cream and claim traveller immunity from cooking. We were on the road dammit!
We went for a drive down to Pacific beach and I went back and bought my surf board. I think they must have switched the labels or something though since I thought it would only be $119 but I ended up spending $199 and a few bucks for a leash. More crap for the back of my car but I am intending on using it as much as possible and getting good. Surf will be up!! We had a walk around and then went back to Joans to get ready for the party. Sadly she would be working all night but we got offered a lift over to the party from a local Couchsurfing couple, Lee and Jen, which we jumped at since that meant I could have a few drinks!

I have never been in a hybrid before and I sat there fascinated by the cool displays giving me all the information I didn’t really need. We eventually found the house which was at the top of a massive hill in North San Diego and there were plenty of people already there. We dove in as usual and everyone was pretty friendly, even though we only brought cake and some $2 bottles of wine from Trader Joes :p Carrisa eventually turned up too and remembered me from her birthday, despite her state of advanced drunkenness at that point.
I should have brought my trunks as eventually people were in the hot tub and I missed out, although after watching a certain south park episode its probably best I didn’t get in :p Lee gave us a lift home and we waited for Joan to come back from work before wandering around town trying to find a club that wouldn’t charge us an arm and a leg to get in. Sheena thought she had gotten us on some guest list but that didn’t pan out so we tramped around for a while longer before heading back to the apartments to attempt to get into the pool area and the hot tub there. It was locked, night night!
