I woke, took another hot shower since I didn’t know when my next one would be coming and went back into Main Street for coffee and a strategy meeting. Happily they were open this time so I grabbed a big cup and set to work on my map. I needed a bold route across the continent, something exciting and fresh. Something no one else had done before.

When I started working on my site again I wanted the Google map at the top to be a integral part of it. I would work as a qualifier, show that I was actually off and doing something, not sitting at home picking fluff out of my navel. The GPS logger I had was working well, eventually I would start tagging my photographs (I guess first I should take some good ones…) but I wanted it to do more. So far my trip had been pretty good, but I wasn’t being overwhelmed by people wanting lifts. If it wasn’t for couchsurfing and the people I had met through it I probably would have gone crazy weeks ago and high tailed it Mexico. There was plenty more to see in the US though and although my trip had been rather random that was fine by me, I wasn’t into the whole ‘tourist’ thing in any event. I drove through Disneyland not pausing to look (apart from all the damn lights!), South Beach Miami was never felt between my toes, I saw the Needle in DC only momentarily in the darkness as I raced south. I am Travel Trousers dammit! You can keep your guidebook and stuff it up your bottom!

I opened the road map at the big page and started tracing a route with my marker, I needed to go west and would be meeting Daniella soon near the Rockies. I drew it out and saw that I would have to start again in Savannah. So be it. I also made some mental rules in my head. I would only shop in certain places, I would only eat in certain places, I would only sleep in certain places. No more Wal-Mart!! Well, at least for a while.

See if you can work out my rules.. :)

I finished my coffee and went out to the Green Goddess that would carry my back on my adventure. I went up to Jump Off Rock which I found ruined by a bloody great barrier. No jumping there any more! I bought gas and returned back down the interstate to Savananah. My intention to spend a night in a hostel was shattered when I found it was closed but resolve was true. Tomorrow was going to be Stage II.
